SHORT RECITAL

 

The Assam Chah Mazdoor  Sangha submitted a Charter of Demands to the Assam Valley Branch Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations. These demands were discussed at bipartite parleys on various dates and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the ACMS and Assam Valley Branch CCPA on the 5th August at Dibrugarh in regard to Sick Leave with Allowance to temporary workers. Understanding between the parties was also reached on the same date with regard to Unions demand for date tea to Sub-Staff and temporary workers. Now, on this 16th day agreement between the ACMS and AVBCCPA has been signed incorporating the above two issues.

 

The Terms of Settlement are as follows:-

 

1. That a temporary worker when employed in a garden will receive Sick Leave with Allowance on the recommendation of the Garden Medical Officer at the rate of 1 day for every 21 days of work done by him/her during the calculating Sick Leave under this Agreement, the total number of days work done by

the worker will be divided by 21 and in case the balance remaining, if any, equals or exceeds 11 days, 1 day of sick leave will be added, any balance below 11 days being ignored. The Allowance will be paid at the same applicable to permanent workers.

2. That the Sub-Staff and other Monthly Rated Employees will receive dry tea at an increase quantum of 950 grams. per family per month, provided single workers living on their own will receive 475 grams per month. This Agreement between the individual managers and the employees, which is more advantageous to the employees.

3 Other conditions remaining the same temporary workers will receive dry tea at an enhanced rate of 200 grams per month.

Quality of dry tea to be issued to the workers should be made fortnightly or monthly according to the convenience of the Management.

4. The above terms and conditions of the Agreement will take effect form the 1st August, 1995.
