MEMORANDUM OF SETTLEMENT

SHORT RECITAL

 

In pursuance of the decision of the State standing Labour Committee meeting held on the 19th December, 1976 the parties met at Gauhati on the 18th December, 1976 and on 10th January 1977 and on the 9th and 10th Feb. 1977 at Dibrugarh, and arrived at a settlement on the question of wages for daily and other question of wages  for daily and other monthly rated workers  in the Tea Industry in Assam.

 

The terms of the present settlement are as follows:-

 

1. Without prejudicial to the question of Variable Dearn as Allowance for children pending before the Industrial Tribunal, it was agreed that the variable Derarness Allowance payable at present will be merged with the basic pay.

 

2. With effect form the 1st March 1977, 1st February, 1978 and 1st February, 1979 the following increase in the wages of daily rated workers in Assam Valley and Cachar shall be given:

 

Form 1st March, 1977                                      Adults-               80 paise

                                                                   Children-             40 paise

 

Form 1st Feb., 1978                                        Adults-               50 paise

                                                                   Children-             25 paise

 

Form 1st Feb, 1979                                         Adults-               50 paise

                                                                   Children-             25 paise

 

3. Until such time as new plucking rates agreement are arrived at, the above increase wages shall be reflected in the plucking wages w.e.f. 1/3/77. But for full days normal work the minimum daily rates of the workers shall be guaranteed.

 

4. It was agreed that pending an Agreement regarding pay scales of Subordinate and other Monthly Rated Workers, and adhoc increase of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty) per worker per month of his category will be paid effect form the 1st April, 1977 this includes other categories covered by Wage Board Recommendation and bilateral agreement with any Employers Association).

 

5. This agreement will cover the period up to the 31st January, 1980 and the Union agree that during this period raise any industry wise covered in this Agreement.
