Agreement Regarding Khet Utilisation With A.B.I.T.A.

KHET UTILISATION AGREEMENT

1. This agreement will be operative for the Sali Crop season  of 1968/1969 and may be extended with the consent of both the parties.

2. Management and Union agree that:-

(a) Khet leave with wages will be granted at the rate of 3 days per Bigha for planting and two days per Bigha for harvesting to each Khet holder.

    In the event of Management being unable to permit the khet holder to avail of leave for planting/ harvesting , the manager will pay the fair wage Plus V.D.A. to the khet holder in lieu, so that he may employ a helper.

(b) Such paid leave or wages in lieu shall be limited to a ceiling of 15 (fifteen) days.

3.(i) For the purpose of better utilisation of paddy the field will be physically assessed by a Committee consisting of (a) the Garden Management, (ii) Two Union Representative, (iii) the Khet holder concerned, and.

(b) After physical assessment (to be done before harvesting is completed in the holding)  the labourer will be permitted to retain 4 Mds. per Bigha, the balance will be sold to Management at the Current Government procurement rate, in bags to be supplied by the purchaser.

(c) The Khet holder selling such produce to Management will be still entitled to draw his paddy rations ex-godown at current concessional rates, bur Management may allow him to retain his years requirement (based on ration entitlement) out of the quantity due to be purchased, for which the khet holder would receive compensation. This compensation would be equivalent to the difference between the Government procurement rate and Godown concessional rate.

4. Any khet holder wishing to sell more to Management then the quantity above calculated may do so at the current Government  procurement price, in bags supplied by the purchaser.

5. Management further agrees to assist the Grow More Food Campaign and increase yields by making available improved seed and fertilisers obtain through Government sources, at cost, to khet holders. Should khet holders wish to take seed and fertilisers on advance account they may do so but will be required to give up additional quantities of paddy to cover such advance, calculated at the Government procurement rate, or refund the cost in cash after the harvest,

6. Should khet holders not avail themselves of the offers in Para 5 above they are still bound by the rest of the agreement.
