Exercise of the power conferred by clause (a) of sub-section (1) of Section 3
read with Sub-Section (2) of Section 5 of the Minimum Wages Act 1948 (Act No. XI
of 1948) as amended, the Governor of Assam having considered the advice of the
Committee constituted under clause 9a) of Sub -Section (10 of the said Act. vide
Governor Notifications No. GLR. (RC0 127/87/80 Dated. 25th October 1989 and No. GLR
188/89/84 datad. 23rd December, 1989 is pleased to fix minimum wages of ordinary
unskilled employers (daily rated) employed in tea plantation in the different
districts of the State of Assam at the rates for different periods as specified
under the Schedule below.

The arrear wages of
the employees shall be paid by the employers on or before the 31st May, 1990.

These rate, which shall be payable in cash, are
inclusive of dearness allowance but exclusive of supplies of foodstuff at
concessional rates and other fringe benefits being excluding being enjoyed by
the employees and their dependents inclusive of further benefits if any,
as may be provided by any agreement, settlement, determination or award,
shall continue as usual unaffected.

The existing issue price of and quantities of
foodstuff supplied to the employees and their dependant at concessional
rates and other fringe benefits being enjoyed by the employees and their
dependants shall remain unchanged.

The existing task shall remain unchanged.

The hours of work, interval of rest and spread
over shall be as laid down in Sections 19,21 and 22 of the Plantations Labour
Act. 1951 (Act. No. 69 of 1951) as amended.

This notification shall come into force with
effect form the 1st November, 1989.
