Agreement Regarding Bohag Bihu as Paid Holiday in the Tea Gardens.
THE FOLLOWING AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED BETWEEN THE A.B.I.T.A, ATPA, TAI. AND BCP, AND THE ACMS & THE ACKS:-
| (i) That workers of the estates under the membership of the
Association represented above will be granted an extra paid holiday,
increasing the total number of paid holidays to 7 in a year. (ii) The above holiday will be granted on the occasion of Bohag Bihu which falls on the last day of the Assamese year generally co-inciding with the 13th or 14th April. (iii) That the holiday for Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on the 2nd October should be substitutes by the 30th January the day of Gandhijee's assassination which is also observed as the Martyr's Day by the Nation and no paid or un-paid holiday or whatsoever will be allowed in 2nd October. (iv) That facilities for a prayer meeting early in the morning of the 2nd October will be granted to the workers before they go to work.(v) That if either Bohag Bihu or the 30th January falls on weekly Rest day the next working day will be granted as holiday. (vi) As during the year 1968 no paid holiday was granted on 30th January, 1968, because of this agreement having been made after that date the substitute holiday or wages on lieu of 2nd October 1968 will be the subject of further discussion. Union and management would explain to the workers that this holiday with pay will be a special one for the year 1968 only and would not be granted in any other year. Sd/-Chairman, A.B.I.T.A.
