Agreement Regarding Cash Compensation For Non-Supply of

Ration To the Workers and Staffs

       This Agreement was made on 16th may, 1967 when there was acute shortage of Food grains and the Industry was not getting proper supply of food grains form the Government. In this regards a circular issued by the Branch, which is produced below for the information of the members.

THE AGREEMENT:

Ad-Hoc Agreement between the Assam Branch India Tea Association, Assam Tea Planters Association, Tea Association of India,  Bharatiya Cha Parishad and the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha.

In view of the present critical food situation and the like-hood of three being a temporary hold up in the supply and arrival of further stocks of food grains on estates of the Associations signatory to this Agreement, it is agreed that in the event of any estate having insufficient stocks of Food grains to meet the ration entitlement of workers:

1. Subject to stock being made available by Government the rice quantum of the ration will be at the rate of 1 Kg. per worker per week with a proportionate quantum of rice for recognized dependents as applicable.

2. Cash compensation  will be paid for the uncovered portion of the ration entitlement at the following rates:

a) Where 25% Rice is issued and no Atta is issued : Zones I & II - 12.30 paise per worker per working day. Zone III- 16.04-do-.

b) Where 1 Kg. Rice is issued and no Atta is issued :Zones I & II - 9.87 paise per day per worker Zone III -13.20 -do-

c) Where 50% Rice is issued and no Atta is issued : Zones I & II- 5.10 paise per day per worker, Zone III-7.51 -do-

   This agreement is a purely temporary one to meet the present food crisis and will not be used as precedent by either party on any future negotiations and shall not mean conversion.

    This rates of Compensation are based on the Government Controlled retail price of Rice and Atta At Rs. 93/- and Rs. 67/- per quintal respectively.

    Should there be any increase or decrease in the Government controlled retail price, the compensation will be adjusted accordingly.

    This agreement will remains valid up to 30th June 1967.
